Workshop on Cross-Scale Coupling in Plasmas
Theory and simulations
A small number of phenomena dominate the behaviour and effects of
plasmas throughout the Universe: collisionless shocks, magnetic
reconnection and plasma turbulence. These fundamental phenomena are
controlled by dynamics involving multi-scale coupling of electron, ion
and fluid processes. Understanding these and other collisionless
plasma phenomena is highly challenging and requires synergistic
approach combining observational, experimental, theoretical and
simulation studies.
In this session we solicit contributions exploring theoretical
simulation and modelling work, particularly on topics and techniques
that cut across or complement areas covered in other sessions.
